«The ultimate art of strategists is not to elaborate a beautiful strategy, but to know when to change it,» a phrase that could also be formulated as: the effectiveness of a strategy is merely a reflection of its suitability to the context. Today, a strategy has a limited «validity period,» in the sense that the world (the context) is constantly evolving.

We must therefore constantly ask ourselves: is my strategy still valid? Because the stake is the very resilience of the company. The evolution of the context must be understood as dominoes that would start to fall silently. Not intervening is accepting not to interfere with the course of things. And not doing so is potentially finding oneself at a tipping point, where the company would no longer be able to fulfill its mission or achieve its ambitions.

Agility goes far beyond adopting flexible working methods like Scrum, Kanban, or Lean; it delves into deeper elements:

  • The ability to identify changes in the general context and to understand their implications for the specific situation of the company (situational intelligence).
  • The ability to make decisions quickly and execute them with conviction.
